Why the Name and Logo?

The diminishing natural habitats of Ecuador’s flora and fauna motivated us to generate a logo that shows the resistance and fight for the conservation of the environment, our logo, a bird wearing a balaclava, signifies an attitude to defend its right to existence.
Most ideas of change, mobilisation and association for a common good have been done in a “Clandestine” way, hence ‘Clandestine Bird’ signifies this from an inclusive and participatory manner, to protect life decidedly. We also prefer the idea of referring to a bird as clandestine instead of shy, hard to see or find.

Our Slogan

We believe that bird watching is one of the best examples of environmental friendly and responsible tourism there is, as birdwatchers tend to look for places which protect bird species, hence why our activity promotes conservation unlike other tourist activities which put pressure on ecosystems, us bird watchers worry about the protection of these habitats and their biodiversity.
This is why our slogan is ‘Responsible Birding’ as the places we visit and support tend to be refuges for birds; their reserves also protect birds in danger of extinction and wildlife.

Our Mission

To promote conservation and sustainable development in areas which are important for Ecuador’s biodiversity, with a spirit of solidarity to preserve, protect and restore the health and integrity of the ecosystems.
To support through investigation and environmentally friendly activities, organisations and networks of conservation and development.

What we do

We promote and support the protection of birds through environmentally friendly activities such as bird watching in Ecuador, due to our vision of sustainable tourism the places we visit meet following criteria:

- Work in Conservation and Sustainable Development
- Many locations are certified in environmentally friendly practices (Smart Voyager for example).
- Protect habitats of global importance and habitats of endangered or endemic birds of the Bioregions.
- We will also visit remnants of forest in agricultural zones to boost environmentally friendly practices in the countryside, including Voluntary Conservation Areas and Private Reserves.

In conservation we work as consultants, advisors, facilitators, technicians and investigators in projects and programs of conservation and development. For more information on our projects and investigations please refer to our ‘Staff’ section.
